DOSSIER

UPDATED · 2026-05-13

No new statement from the New Jersey Department of Health since the May 8 announcement; the original press release still carries a 'Last Reviewed: 5/8/2026' date and continues to withhold residence and identifying details for privacy. The subject remains symptom-free under voluntary monitoring; the 42-day clearance window (through about June 6) is unchanged. The May 11 CDC alert references continued state-level monitoring of returning travellers but does not single out this individual

UPDATED · 2026-05-11

NJDOH was notified by CDC of the potential exposure, which occurred during air travel abroad after the index case departed MV Hondius; NJ-002 was not an MV Hondius passenger. Acting NJ Health Commissioner Raynard Washington described the protocol as activity tracing, twice-daily symptom and temperature checks, and pre-arranged home isolation plans if symptoms appear. NJDOH explicitly declined to release residence, age, or other identifying details, citing patient privacy, and reiterated that asymptomatic persons are not considered infectious. As of May 11 no symptom onset or status change has been reported for either NJ resident
